Romania possesses an agricultural surface of 14.741 thousand ha (68,1% of country’s surface) and 63.9% of the total surface is  arable land.
The arable lands have known an important growth in price. If in 2000 a ha cost about 200 EUR,by now its price rose to about 2500 EUR. Even  nowadays it is considered a low price in comparison with  the price  of the plot of lands  from the member states of the European Community.
